Create Your Podcast - Preparation Worksheet

With two of your classmates, you prepare a 2- to 3-minute podcast in which you explain the many advantages of restorative justice and how it can be applied to conflicts between students. 

Use the following guidelines (1. and 2.) or you can draw the table at the bottom of the page in your notebook and fill in in as you work with your group mates.

1. Brainstorm.
Podcast name

  • Catchy name that attracts people’s attention
  • Word play, pun, metaphor …

Topic

  • Make sure you limit the scope of your podcast, it is very short!

Focus / objective

  • What is it exactly that you want to say/explain/demonstrate?

Format

  • Information report: a presentation designed to share information
  • Panel discussion: group discussion or debate
  • Interviews: conversation(s) with guest(s)
  • A mix of different formats
  • Different roles: host, co-host, guest, …
  • Other

2. Write your script.
Introduction

  • Something to get the audience interested
  • Name of the first person to speak
  • Names of host(s) and guest(s)
  • Name of the podcast
  • Short summary of what you will deal with

Main section

  • Speaking order. Who is speaking when?
  • Different parts / transitions
  • Making sure the facts are accurate

Conclusion

  • Going back to the objective
  • Opening, perspectives

3. Practise and rehearse until you have memorized the script and until you are satisfied with the result.

4. Record your podcast!
